Then, I closed it. I am a teacher; July 2023 was my last summer check until August.
So, I paid twice that month. 1-about July 15, 2023, and then, after my July 26 payment. On July 29, I paid for August 2023. I knew I would not have any spare money.
Then August came in and August 26, they emailed me about a missed payment. I knew this was not right, so I ignored it. September 15, I paid my bill and there were some extra charges, late fees, and such billed to me.
I have called them several times, and stated that I would write letters to the president of this company, and BBB, etc. One supervisor gave me a credit, but the rest of the charges stuck.
Petal software makes it hard to pay down your bill when it immediately adds charges to your card. Petal and WebBank takes advance of karma credit and they immediately make the consumer pay extreme amounts of money. THIS IS NOT FAIR.
Now, Petal says on my credit report that I was late and etc. " I will fight them with all my being"!

I have been a customer with Petal card for over two years. I had a zero balance for 18 months or so I thought.
I received an email this morning that I was passed due on my account by $64. When I logged in I saw the balance was nothing but a new monthly fee of $8 and then late fees and finance charged assesed against the membership fee. When I called to get this resolved I got nowhere. I have since filed complaints with every regulatory agency available plus the BBB and my state's AG's office.
I encourage anyone who has dealt with Petal Card charging late fees and finance charges against a balance that consists of nothing but their "membership" fee to file complaints with the BBB and FDIC.
This is poor lending practices and borderlines with predatory lending as they are targeting consumers with poor credit or no credit. I have never run into this issue with a real bank.

Pedal card recently started charging an $8 monthly fee of which I was not aware until I received an email saying I had a $64 balance past due. I have not used this card in over 18 months.
My "balance" consists of nothing but the membership fees, late fees and finance charges assessed against the original $8 monthly fee. I called to try to resolve this and got nowhere. I have since filed complaints with every banking regulation available plus the BBB and my states AG's office.
I encourage anyone who has dealt with Petal Card charging late fees and finance charges against a balance that consists of nothing but their "membership" fee to file complaints with the BBB and FDIC.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. After complaining to the FDIC, I received a refund on my Petal card. I requested a refund check mailed, and I received the check today.

It's been over 14 days since I first contacted Petal.The only response I've received is that they're waiting to hear from their "internal team."None of the account managers can communicate with the "internal team." So you have to wait for them to contact you, like...
I discovered the company had misinformed me, so I requested my account be closed and my credit card refunded. The company told me it could take up to 30 - 60 days.
On 01/03/2023, I called Petal and disputed the charge.
On 01/04/23, I received a provisional credit for $397.
On 01/05/2023, the insurance company refunded me $397.
On 02/02/23, Petal debited back the credit of $397.
On 02/08/23, my card was charged by 00USA (a different company) for $397.
On 02/16/23, I called Petal to inform them that I didn't authorize this charge and wasn't aware of it.
I spoke with Denise, an account manager, who agreed that the debit of $397 that was charged to my account on 02/02/23 should've offset the credit from the insurance company. However, I was denied the ability to dispute this charge.
I informed Denise that this outstanding balance affected my credit rating and was subject to interest. Denise advised me that once their "internal team" researched the charge, they would take care of it if necessary. However, this is affecting my creditworthiness and utilization in the interim.
On 2/24/23, I went on the Petal app to pay for a recurring charge of $30.
Unfortunately, I accidentally paid the disputed amount of $397 instead. I called Petal and spoke to Denise again. She stated that she was still waiting to hear back from their internal investigation department.
On 2/27/23, I called and spoke with Chris, an account manager. He informed me that the internal team were still investigating the charge, and he had no answers.
On 3/2/23, I called and spoke with Jarrett, an account manager.
He informed me that the internal team were still investigating the charge, and he had no answers.
On 03/02/23, I wrote a letter of complaint to Petals corporate office and havent received a response.
On 3/8/23, I contacted Petal and spoke with Laura, an account manager. She informed me that the internal team were still investigating the charge, and he had no answers.
On 3/10/23, I contacted Petal and spoke with Laura, an account manager. She informed me that the internal team were still investigating the charge, and he had no answers or updates.
On 03/17/23, I contacted Petal and spoke with Denise, an account manager. She informed me that the internal team were still investigating the charge, and he had no answers, and theyre still working on it.
This has been a nightmare.
From other reviews on Credit Karma and Trust Pilot, this appears to be a scam, and Petal is stealing card information from members, charging their cards, not allowing them to dispute the charges, or allowing the charges when disputed.
None of the account managers can communicate with the "internal team." So you have to wait for them to contact you.
***UPDATE*** 3/17/23
The CPFB informed me that Petal asked for an additional 90 days to review this.
The CPFB is useless. I filed a complaint with Webbank & the FDIC. The FDIC regulates Petal & Webbank.
As of today, their "internal team" still hasn't provided an answer to customer service regarding this charge, nor have I been provided a provisional credit. Petal Card is a fraud.
Beware.

I am a loyal customer of Petal for several years. My experience was great until I was TOTALLY RIPPED OFF by a SCAM COMPANY, for nearly $200.
I disputed the charge when the SCAM COMPANY absolutely STOLE MY MONEY, PETAL SIDED WITH THE SCAM COMPANY IN MY DISPUTE AND SUPPORTED THE OUTRIGHT THEFT OF MY $200. I am filing separated complaints against everyone involved, with the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Protection Bureau, vthe Oklahoma Attorney General, the California Attorney General, the Maryland Attorney General, and will soon bring an action in Small Claims Court in Oklahoma. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CARD TO ANYONE WHO BELIEVES IN JUSTICE, FAIR PLAY, LOYALTY AND EQUITY. Petal supports and defends SCAM COMPANIES to the detriment of its loyal customers, even when they KNOW that their loyal customer was TOTALLY SCAMMED.
I will pay off this balance and cut the card in half.
I advise all others to do the same. Since getting Petal and rehabbing my credit, I've recently gotten major increases on 3 other cards, and new cards with $14,000 in new credit, so Petal and I are THRU!
